The Gauteng Department of Education has dismissed social media reports that a shooting incident occurred at Malvern High School in Johannesburg on Monday. 
This follows a social media update alleging that a learner at the school shot a teacher.  
"Police officials were called to conduct a search at school, upon which it was discovered that no learner, or anyone else on the school premises, was in possession of a firearm. 
"It is very important for our citizens to follow the department's official social media accounts for any updates," said Department's Spokesperson, Steve Mabona. 
Government urges the public to stop spreading or responding to misinformation and fake news or any other digital misinformation.
