Rose Manaba, a dedicated Child and Youth Care Worker from Muvhango’s Extension 12 near Bophelong, has embarked on a life-changing journey impacting the lives of at-risk children in her community.

Since joining Dirang Ka Kagiso in 2019, Manaba has seen her life transformed and now devotes herself to uplifting others.

After completing her matric, Manaba struggled to find employment or a meaningful pursuit. Reflecting on this time, she shared, “I was unemployed, feeling discouraged, and unsure of my future. A friend recommended that I visit the centre, and that advice changed everything. I joined Dirang Ka Kagiso initially as a way to keep busy, not realizing I’d discover a true calling in working with children.”

Eager to develop her skills further, Manaba embraced the opportunity to enhance her computer learning abilities at the centre. By November 2019, she applied for the Child and Youth Care Worker Learnership provided by the Gauteng Department of Social Development. With diligence and dedication, she completed the program, officially becoming a certified Child and Youth Care Worker.

Manaba describes her role as deeply fulfilling yet challenging, requiring dedication, compassion, and specialized skills. "I’m grateful to the department for providing opportunities for those of us who couldn’t go to university,” she says, crediting her growth to the support and training she received.

Now, Manaba is an inspiration to others, proving that determination and community support can indeed transform lives.
