Department of Health 2025/04/08 - 22:00
The Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) in collaboration with the Medical Bureau for Occupational Diseases (MBOD) and stakeholders, wishes to notify the public about the extended registration period for ex-mine workers in the West Rand District.
This is part of a programme to trace ex-mine workers who may be eligible for social security benefits for work-related illnesses and possible provident/pension funds due to them.
Due to high demand and to accommodate those who missed the initial two weeks, the registration will now continue until Friday, 11 April 2025. Registration will be available during weekdays from 08h00 to 15h00 at the following venues:
- Mohlakeng EMS Hall (replacing Ramosa Hall)
- Carletonville Hospital (replacing Carletonville Civic Centre)
- Khutsong Extension 4 Multi-Purpose Civic Centre
- Molatlhegi Hall in Kokosi
- Chief Mogale Hall in Kagiso
Ex-mine workers are urged to bring all relevant identification documents including their Mineworker's Identity card (Makhulu-skop), ID documents and any paperwork received from their mining companies. Alternatively, the self-registration portal is accessible at [https://exmineworker.com/home].
So far, over 7000 ex-mine workers and their beneficiaries were successfully registered during the first two weeks. Those deemed eligible for social security benefits will be contacted directly by MBOD for further assistance in submitting claims for work-related illnesses and possible provident/pension funds.
For more information regarding eligibility and the registration process, ex-mine workers and their dependents can contact the MBOD Call Centre at 080 1000 240.
