Gauteng residents are urged to exercise extra caution in flooded areas
The heavy rainfall that caused flooding in several areas across the Gauteng area in the past 24 hours, resulted in severe danger threats to residents and in particular to motorists.
Residents and motorists are warned to stay clear of closed and flooded roads and to be extra careful in flash flood areas. They should avoid crossing flooded bridges too.
Several roads are reported to be flooded and should be avoided at all costs. The Witkoppen road as well as the Paulshof and Sunninghill bridges are flooded and closed. Motorists are also urged to avoid the N3 Gilooly’s offramp, the M! double -deckers and Buccleuch inter-chance are all closed due to flooding and should be avoided.
Reports of flash floods in several of residential areas are also coming in and disaster relief are deployed to assist communities in these areas
Operation teams are deployed across the province to render assistance and to prevent the loss of life in flooded areas.
People are advised to call the Disaster emergency number 10177/112 in case of a disaster emergency
